A note from the author

My daughter’s inquisitive nature inspired the idea for Smelly Nelly. Her observations were not only of sights and sounds. She also noticed scents and how they conjure up so many feelings and memories. It inspired me to write a book about this oft-overlooked sense – and Smelly Nelly was born. So when Natasha was just six years old, I wrote the words and she drew the pictures for a series of stories we have treasured ever since. Years later, we have decided to share this reimagined version of Nelly in hopes that it inspires your own happy nostalgia...and following your nose to find it!
